Salvia, Cedar

Salvia roemeriana

This lacey perennial may look delicate but it can withstand poor soils and the hot Texas summers. It is ideal for shade gardens with its bright scarlet flowers borne on stalks, and scalloped heart shaped leaves that stand out in the shade. It prefers well-drained soil and is usually seen growing on the rocky cliff sides. This plant was made for hummingbirds.
